Romanian Capital Gala

End of April comes with yet another award for Allevo. During the 2nd edition of the Romanian Capital Gala, a Finmedia event held on April 29th, 2013, we were proud to receive the diploma for “The sole zonal SWIFT certified partner, with 100% Romanian capital, dedicated provider of payment systems, business continuity and process management solutions and services, addressing corporate banking and treasury”. It was quite cool to be nominated as one of the Romanian capital champions.

Here is the diploma and of course, you can read more on the blog.

Quite a long title, isn’t it? Imagine having to translate it from Romanian into English 😛 Jokes aside, it was quite cool to be nominated as one of the Romanian capital champions.

Besides the awards ceremony, the event presented itself as a debate on the future of inland capital and Romanian values. Business leaders, capital shapers, financers, lawyers, bankers, guarantee and counter guarantee funds representatives; they all had a saying in this. They talked about globalization, of course, about the importance of autochthonous capital in the key economic sectors and, as usual and expected, about changing economic paradigms and mentalities. Maybe, eventually, some of the good ideas specialists came up with along the way, will be put into practice.

Until then, we can still complain about the Romanian export declining every year (apparently only two Romanian companies were worth mentioning exporters in 2012: Dacia and Interagro, out of which Dacia is not even a Romanian based capital company). But hope is not lost, or at least this is the idea you get when hearing a well-known Romanian banker announcing to open a new bank.

Meanwhile, in this context, our going open source seems like the best idea ever 🙂

As the Public Administration Symposium travelled to the next region, so did we. On April 25, 2013 the conference “Solutions for the local communities development. Tools for a modern and efficient public administration” was held in Ploiesti and we were invited to present also to this audience our portfolio of products and solutions designed to improve local authorities’ financial flows.

A little bit more serious, but not necessarily less fun than the more famous beerfest, definitely supporting you to get smarter, not fatter, the codefest, also known as hackathon, is a chance to show you really know what you’re talking about when code is involved 🙂

And what better chance to prove your code “guru-ness” than on a type of application that has never and anywhere before seen the light of open source? And the #1 hackathon organized by Allevo will give you this chance.

What the “hack” am I talking about? Well, to put it simply, about the first FinTP hackathon. After the launch on May 24 last year, we focused on refining our strategy and improving the product, based on the valuable ideas we gathered from the first FINkers United community gathering. And after this great deal of work, we have now the courage to let you in our little castle, built out of bricks of code, hoping it can measure up to the most skilled developer’s expectations.

We’ve walked and walked its corridors, with our architects, designers, business analysts, developers, testers, project managers, version managers and so on. We’ve tried to remove all the skeletons from the closets, the dust beneath the carpets, the spider webs from the paintings :). And now we believe it is ready for its visitors. So we are going to prepare some guest rooms, for you, our brave code knights. Or should I rather say brained knights 🙂 No traps, no water ditching, no defense towers, no dragons to defeat. They may not be the most luxurious rooms of the castle, but every journey or adventure begins with one simple first step. Or in this case with one simple room.

But you are free to do everything in this room: rearrange it, redesign it completely, build on top of it and even try to break in the room without a key. Cause the theme of this programming marathon is none other than “let your imagination go wild”. We’ll give you our first API’s, an UDAL library and an interface API, that you can use for whatever crosses your mind.

So, this is an invitation to help us build and fortify a 21st century castle, an open castle. To help us design it as a viable alternative in the market, to the benefit of everyone in the community around it.

If you want to take on our challenge, just drop me an e-mail at ioana.moldovan@allevo.ro (as you can participate by invitation only) and save the 15th of May in your calendar for this code quest. Or codefest 🙂

PS: More technical details coming soon.

Ever wondered how you could spend a cool, interesting, challenging, provocative, entertaining, full 24-hour? Well, now is your chance, as Corporate Rebels United, in a joint initiative with Rebels at Work thought of having a 24-hour online Rebel Jam. Just like jazz jam sessions, the Corporate Rebels’ jam will bring together individuals from various cultural and professional areas, people who share the believe that this world should act NOW to remodel the relationships at both individual and community level, people who defend free thinking and speaking and the fair access to world’s resources – including ideas and achievements.

The kickoff is on May 30 at noon in Europe CET, 6 AM North America East Coast, 3 AM North America Pacific and 8 PM Sydney. You can tune in any time or be there for the whole 24 hours if you’re one of the truly crazy rebels :), to learn from thought leaders and Rebels about:

  • What are the big shifts that require our organizations to respond in fundamentally different ways to achieve dramatically higher levels of velocity?
  • What has helped Rebels to be successful?
  • Setbacks and obstacles Rebels experienced and how they’ve navigated through them.
  • Habits that help them stay creative, positive and respected.

This will be a time for Rebels worldwide to share their stories and practices with as many people in the world as possible, in the easiest, least expensive way; a time for inspiring entertainment and provocative discussions every hour, with hosts from Europe, North America and Asia; a time for learning and camaraderie, as much as the online environment can stand :); a time also for a little bit of fun in the corporate world.

And all you need to do is clear the dates in your calendar and be able to connect to the Internet. And the rebels will show you that the global interest created around how they can positively change business, government, education, healthcare and the world itself, did not come out of the blue.

And, as a rebel that we are, we cannot miss this for the world. In our slot between 16:30 – 17:00 Romanian time (15:30-16:00 CET), we will aproach the markets’ pressure to reconsider the business model, correlated with the advantages of extending co-operation through sharing ideas, knowledge and accomplishments.”See” you there 🙂

I’ll come back with more detailed info soon, so stay tuned! Later Rebels.
